Winchester's Matt Ratana Charity Golf Day Raises £18,000 at Copthorne Golf Club

On Friday 12th June, The Winchester brought golfers, friends and supporters together at Copthorne Golf Club for a day of fairways, fundraising and community spirit - raising a remarkable £18,000 in support of the Matt Ratana Foundation in the process.

The sun shone on Copthorne Golf Club on Friday 12th June 2026 as The Winchester came together to host the annual Matt Ratana Charity Golf Day - and what a day it proved to be.

Golfers, supporters, sponsors and friends gathered for a wonderful mix of competition, networking and community spirit, all united behind a common and deeply meaningful cause: raising vital funds for the Matt Ratana Foundation. We are thrilled to announce that the day raised an incredible £18,000.

A Day to Remember

From the first tee to the final putt, the atmosphere was warm, generous and full of goodwill. The event brought together people from across the business and community network, reflecting the broad and enduring support that the Matt Ratana Foundation continues to inspire.

Whether you were out on the fairways, cheering from the sidelines, or simply contributing to the cause, your presence made the day what it was - a true celebration of community.

A huge thank you to PBI, a SaaS Fintech and MSP/Cyber firm, for sponsoring the beer golf cart and keeping spirits high throughout the day. Special thanks to Jonathan White and Chris Cattermole for their hands-on help with the distribution of drinks.

Longest Drive Sponsor - Lindedata

Thank you to Lindedata for sponsoring the Longest Drive competition, one of the highlights of the day.

Closest to the Pin Sponsor - Abacus

A Special Mention: The Man in the Blue Cap

For the second year running, James Manders of CassonX (affectionately known as "the man in the blue cap") generously paid for the after-golf drinks for all attendees. James, your continued and unwavering support for The Winchester's good causes means the world to us. Thank you.

James also supports the Foundation through his work: any recruitment arising through The Winchester community will see James contribute a percentage of his revenue to our charities and good causes. We are pleased to share that two candidates are currently at final stages through this referral process.

Steadfast Support: David Jarman & Buzzacott

We would also like to extend particular thanks to David Jarman and the team at Buzzacott, whose support for this and many other Winchester events has been nothing short of outstanding. Your loyalty and generosity are an inspiration.

The Man Behind the Scenes

Finally - and certainly not least - a very special thank you to Chaim Hack, whose extraordinary energy and dedication were instrumental in making this event happen. The Golf Day does not come together without you, and we are enormously grateful.

About the Matt Ratana Foundation

The Matt Ratana Foundation was established in memory of Sergeant Matt Ratana, who was tragically killed in the line of duty in September 2020. The Foundation works to honour his legacy by supporting meaningful causes and communities in his name.

Events like the Winchester Golf Day are a vital part of how we keep Matt's memory alive and continue the work he cared so deeply about.
